I know this is an old thread but I don't think it's been fixed at all. You should be able to drag the window to where you want to paste it, then click outside the outline, to put it there. This is still a problem with version 2.5. Or, does anyone know of an alternative, similar program?

Hello, I am looking for an update on this. The only solution for now is to go back to Catalina But everything else in Paintbrush is working fine! Only having this issue since I got my new Macbook Air, so not even sure where the problem is coming from. Yes, can't work around the pasting problem as described. Thanks for your patience! My workaround is to either capture an image 4 times the size of the desired image (with the desired image bottom right) - OR- capture to a file and edit that file in a second paintbrush window. Digging into this I discovered that on the newer (perhaps only retina) displays the screen capture function saves images at double the resolution. I've noticed the only the bottom right quarter of any captured image is pasted. I've noticed that only the bottom right quarter of any captured image is pasted.
